It’s hard to believe that another month has gone by and that we’re now very deeply entrenched in the second half of the year. True story, this month I started planning Christmas content for one of my regular freelance writing clients.
Enough about that for now though. Here’s what’s been going on in my world over the last few weeks.
Remembering Chester Bennington
I was very sad to hear about Chester Bennington, lead singer of Linkin Park, taking his own life. That he did it on the birthday of Chris Cornell, who I understand he was very close to, and who the world only mourned just a few short months ago, made this terrible tragedy somehow even sadder.
I won’t ever claim to be the biggest Linkin Park fan in the world, but I did greatly enjoy their music. Their debut album, Hybrid Theory, still crops up on my trusty-old iPod shuffle and that Numb/Encore mashup they did with Jay-Z was a thing of beauty.
My favourite memory of Chester, however, was seeing him front Linkin Park live at what was then the Manchester Evening News Arena (now the Manchester Arena), back in 2001.
Dilated Peoples, Puddle of Mudd, and Adema (remember them?) were supporting, and the gig -to this very day- remains one of the absolute best that I’ve ever been into in my life.
My thoughts and prayers are with Chester’s friends, family, fans, and bandmates.
Cosmic Fall/Aphodyl – Starsplit
On a lighter note, I absolutely can not go any further without mentioning Starsplit, a truly beautiful split EP from Cosmic Fall / Aphodyl.
This turned up on one of my favourite Youtube channels, Stoned Meadow of Doom, a few days ago, and I’ve been playing it to death ever since.
Please, do yourself a favour, take a listen.
I almost guarantee you that you’ll feel yourself just letting go, as though the music itself were a drug, transporting you to some whole other plane of existence.
This is musical magic, and I highly recommend it.

I’ve spent a lot of time this month working on my photography, and finally got round to uploading all those shots I took in Manchester back in April.

Stock Photos on Sale via Alamy.com
Speaking of photographs. I signed up with Alamy.com to sell stock photography.
I tend to do a lot of my own photography for freelance writing projects, so it made sense to do something productive with the ones I haven’t used.

That Moment When You Realise Your Parents Were Just ‘Adulting’ Too
That’s the title of my latest article for Medium.com, a discussion on how we (or at least I) can hold a resentment against parents for things they did in the past, only to realise that they had as much clue about how to be a responsible adult as we do now, IE. none.
You can read more of that article here:
Retro Pro Wrestling
As always, I finish this round-up with my self-indulgent geek hobby of pro wrestling reviews.
This month, I’ve covered the following:
- Hollywood Hulk Hogan Autobiography Review
- WCW Slamboree 1996 Review
- WCW The Great American Bash 1996 Review
That’s all I’ve got for you this month. Thank you very much for reading. If you would like my help with your next copywriting project, or if you have any questions about anything you’ve read here, please do get in touch.
