From 2012 – 2013, I ran Almost Famous, a live music promotion and management company in Greater Manchester, UK.
Taking the name from my favourite film of all time, Almost Famous Music was set up to continue the work I’d been doing for over a decade in managing unsigned bands, promoting concerts, and empowering other promoters and artists to expand their audience through event management, marketing and promotion.
This work included playing a key role in the expansion of Haigh Fest, an annual showcase of unsigned talent which grew to attract audiences of 7,000+ over a three-year period.
Along with providing these services through Almost Famous, I always used the business as a platform to promote myself as a experienced, enthusiastic live event compère, rock/metal DJ, and Master of Ceremonies.
Live Music and Event Promotion key achievements
Despite a brief run, I had some successes and a lot of fun with Almost Famous, working with a number of bands, promoters and venues across the North West.
As well as launching the Millstone Rocks annual fundraising festival, one of my favourite moments was flying over to my adopted second home in Minnesota to provide PR and digital marketing support to the internationally-renowned Dylan Days arts, music and culture festival.
Returning home in August 2012, I successfully promoted one of my favourite gigs to date in the form of Almost Famous Music Presents: The Hottest Party of The Summer, where a packed crowd got together to watch some of my favourite bands like This Devastated Fan, Smitten Kitten, Prairie Dogs and The Fifth Root.

After an enjoyable run, I found my priorities had shifted somewhat, and wound down my live music promotion and management work to focus on achieving my life-long dream of becoming a freelance writer.
What remains of Almost Famous Music today isn’t much, but there are a few things hanging around to remind me of the fun times I had.
Below, you’ll find a few links to some of the work I did, videos I created and anything else I can find as I go through my vast archive of stuff.

Live music promotion and management in Greater Manchester
In time, I do plan to relaunch Almost Famous, albeit under a different name, in order to target the same services I currently offer through OneCo Creative to bands, artists and promoters. In the meantime, if you’ve seen anything on this page that interests you, and you’re interested in hiring me to help promote, host, or manage your event, please do get in touch and let’s rock ‘n’ roll.
