My Week: November 10th – 16th

The pressure is on, but we’re getting through it. Here’s what’s been happening in my world from Saturday, November 10th to Friday, November 16th.

1: What I’m learning:

How to open a counselling skills session

We’re starting to move into skills work on my Level 3 counselling course and have been tasked with scripting an effective opening that includes all the relevent information the speaker needs to know about boundaries, confidentiality etc, whilst still being engaging.

2: How I’ve been taking time out

Exploring museums

With so much work going on at the moment, I needed to take some time to do something different before burning out.

I chose to spend time exploring the Merseyside Maritime Museum and the International Slavery Museum, both of which made for sombre reflection.

3: What I’ve been listening to:

I mean, how could you not?

I admit I’ve been entirely captivated by the story of Jered “Threatin” Eames and spent way too much time falling down the proverbial rabbit hole.

I guess it’s a tale of what happens when low self-esteem manifests itself as a horrendously oversized ego, and how badly things can go wrong when you try to do everything yourself rather than enlisting help.

4: What I’ve been talking about:

How to deal with overwhelm without self-sabotage

Balancing college work with the demands of day-to-day life has been tough this week. Here’s how I managed it without resorting to self-sabotaging behaviour.

5: This week’s picture:

6: What I’m looking forward to

Handing in my first college assignment

Seriously, this thing has overwhelmed me in recent weeks and I’ll be glad to put it to bed!
